Land Department

Lands department is the vital department in the Ministry of Land sand Survey has the following functions to play below. The department is divided into various sections/units in order to carry out her functions:

Land Administration Division

  • Formulation, coordination and implementation of policies on land
  • Administration, management and control of state government lands.
  • Giving expert evidence in court and tribunals on state government land administrative matters.
  • Advising state Government on legislations dealing with land administration.
  • Managing and maintaining records of Right of occupancy, leases and other transactions of lands.
  • Land process start from land department and end in land department.

 

Lands Acquisition and compensation units

  • Acquisition of lands for the use of state Government,
  • Enumeration,Assessment, payment and Administration of compensation for various interest on acquired lands.
  • Review of applicable compensation rates
  • Giving expert evidence in courts and tribunals and land acquisition and compensation matters.

 

State Lands Registry units

  • The land Deed Registry unit handles the following functions.
  • Examining and processing all documents deposited for registration of all related lands documents.

 

Indexing of all registered titles

  • Attending to enquires from the public as may arise from time to time and includes searches ,  of charges and discharge and other examinations of documents .
  • Attending to agencies from members of the public as may rise from time to time on registrable documents which include transfers and other matters.
  • Preparation of certificate of occupancy and other title documents for Right of occupancy, leases and other grants on state government lands.
  • It oversees the record units.

 

Valuation of Land, Property and Asset Valuation Unit

  • Valuation of land for acquisition and composition
  • Valuation of corporate assets of government owed companies and public incortion.
  • Giving expert evidence in courts, tribunalsetc on property valuation matters.
  • Keeping and maintaining of valuation records.
  • Determining the capital valuation of the properties for assignment, mortgages and leases.
